Marie T. Swiney

Marie T. Swiney, age 87, of Newark, DE, passed away on Thursday, April 30, 2026.

Born on April 10, 1939, in Tours, France, she was the daughter of the late Maria and Desire Brault. Marie began her first job coming from France at Avon in the shipping department where she spent 20 years. During her career, she formed many great friendships, especially her best friends, April Conaway and Nancy Herring, who were true, lifetime friends. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt.

In addition to her parents, Marie was preceded in death by her son, James in 2024; and brothers, Mitchel Brault, Christian Brault and Jean-Marie Brault. She is survived by her loving husband of 66 years, Raven Swiney; daughters, Rose Astle and Theresa Dorio; grandson, Anthony Dorio (Summer); great-grandchildren, Haven and Cecilia Marie; brother, Gerard Brault; sister-in-law, Jennine Brault; nieces and nephews, including William Brault (Valerie); and extended family and friends from France and here at home in Newark.

All services will be held privately.
