Marie V. “Pug” Blackburn

October 1, 1946 - October 18, 2021

Marie V. Blackburn, affectionately known as “Pug”, age 75, of Middletown, DE, formerly of Holloway Terrace, passed away on Monday, October 18, 2021.

Born in Wilmington, DE, on October 1, 1946, Pug was a daughter of the late Joseph V. and Marie (Logan) Nesci. She graduated from DeLaWarr High School in  1966. After graduation, Pug worked at the Drughouse for many years and later went on to work at the Middletown Chamber of Commerce.  She was a talented homemaker, cherishing the ability to care for her family. Strong in her faith, Pug was a devout Catholic. In her spare time, she enjoyed trips to Bethany Beach and spending time with her friends and family.

In addition to her parents, Pug was preceded in death by her sister, JoAnne T. Holmes; and sister-in-law, Barbara Sutton. She is survived by her loving husband of 50 years, Jesse L. Blackburn, Jr.; son, Jesse L. “J” Blackburn, III; brother, Thomas Nesci; and many nieces, nephews; and dear friends.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 10 am until 11:30 am on Friday, October 29, 2021, at Holy Spirit R.C. Church, 12 Winder Road, New Castle, DE, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11:30 am.  Face coverings will be required for all those in attendance not immunized with the COVID-19 vaccine per the Governor of Delaware. Interment will follow in Cathedral Cemetery, 2400 Lancaster Avenue, Wilmington, DE.

The family would like to offer a special thanks to Seasons Hospice for the exceptional care given to Marie during her illness and the “Golden Girls”, Judy, Janet, and Carol; and Fran, Peg, Bob, Jane, Marge, and Jack for their many visits and support.
