Marilyn Susan “Micki” Hentkowski
March 15, 1943 - March 21, 2023
Marilyn Susan “Micki” Hentkowski, age 80, of Avondale, PA, passed away on Tuesday, March 21, 2023.
Born in Wilmington, DE on March 15, 1943, she was the daughter of the late Frederick H. and Wally (Fischer) Larson. Micki was the proud owner of Hentkowski, Inc.
Micki had a passion for animals, but especially horses and dogs. Her love for horses began as a child and she got her first horse in 1979. As a member of the Eastern Amateur Arabian Horse Association she held positions in leadership over the years, and showed horses in their circuit. Micki spent countless hours training her beloved Corgi’s for show in obedience and rally. She was a member of the Pembroke Welsh Corgi Club of Potomac as well as the Wilmington Kennel Club where she held a variety of leadership positions.
In addition to her parents, Micki was preceded in death by her loving husband, John William Hentkowski; and brother, Frederick B. Larson (Mary Ann). She is survived by her children, John W. Hentkowski Jr. (Kym) of Earleville, MD, Stephen E. Hentkowski of Wilmington, and Barbara A.M.H. Roberts (Brian) of Avondale, PA; grandchildren, Bryan Hentkowski, Alexis Hentkowski, C. Brody Roberts, Ian S. Roberts, Abigail G. Roberts, and Samantha DeGeorge; and great-grandchildren, Brooklyn A. Hentkowski, Ariana N. Hentkowski, Savannah M. DeGeorge, and Connor J. DeGeorge.
A celebration of life will begin promptly at 11 am on Saturday, April 22, 2023, at the Landenberg Barn, 47 Good Hope Road, Landenberg, PA, with a luncheon to follow. Interment will be held privately in All Saints Cemetery, 6001 Kirkwood Highway, Wilmington, DE.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Micki’s memory to either the Friends of Penn Vet or Friends of New Bolton, checks made payable to the “Trustees of the University of Pennsylvania” and mailed to: Office of Institutional Advancement, University of Pennsylvania, School of Veterinary Medicine, 3800 Spruce Street, Suite 151E, Philadelphia, PA 19104-6047.
