Marjorie Janet Lee-Kennedy
Marjorie Janet Lee-Kennedy, age 75, passed away on Tuesday, June 9, 2026, after a valiant battle with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) and surrounded by her husband and two sisters. Margie faced her journey with this very difficult disease with stoicism, courage, and determination⸻not once complaining. Instead, with every challenge/defeat that ALS handed her, Margie made adjustments and kept going⸻doing all she could for as long as she could.
A native of Newark, Delaware, she was a graduate of Newark High School and the University of Delaware. Marge realized her life-long goal of becoming a teacher and taught high school in the Brandywine School District for many years, first history and then Special Education. Later in her career, she became a paralegal and worked with several Wilmington law firms before transitioning into contract management at AstraZeneca and Gore.
Marge was an avid reader throughout her life, reflected in her keen knowledge on a variety of subjects. She enjoyed an eclectic mix of music⸻from Motown to rock to classical to opera. She also was a Blue Hens fan and attended many football games over the years.
Known as a uniquely intelligent, articulate, and witty person with an independent spirit, all of Marge’s family and friends greatly respected her. She was deeply loved and will be missed more than words can express. Her husband and sisters are especially grateful for the memories of love and laughter she gave them in abundance.
She and her husband relished their life together in Massey, Maryland, where they enjoyed a quiet country life, particularly their gardens and pool.
Marge is survived by her husband of over 20 years, Dave Kennedy; his son, Chris of England; sisters, Robin Luff and Laurie Lee; and numerous extended family members. She was preceded in death by her parents, Nelson and Janet Lee; and brother-in-law, Bob Luff.
A visitation for family and friends will be held from 10 am until 11 am on Tuesday, June 16, 2026, at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 121 West Park Place, Newark, DE, where a funeral service will begin at 11 am. Interment will follow in Ebenezer United Methodist Church Cemetery, 525 Polly Drummond Hill Road, Newark, DE.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Marjorie’s memory to the ALS Association, 1919 University Avenue W. Suite 175, St. Paul, MN 55104 or online by clicking here.

Laurie and Robin,
We are so sorry to hear about the loss of your sister, Margie. Although we did not know Margie, we know Laurie – kind, funny, smart, authentic and a wonderful friend. Margie was blessed to have two sisters and husband take such good care of her during her ALS battle. Praying the family finds peace and comfort knowing she had the best care while on earth and now has the ultimate care from our Great Physician in heaven. Praying time heals your heart and memories comfort your soul.
I John 3:19 – “We set our hearts at rest in His presence.”
