Marjorie Loven Goodier
March 10, 1942 - August 13, 2026
Marjorie Loven Goodier, of Odessa, DE, was born on March 10, 1942, in Wilmington, DE, to the late Marjorie Kennedy Loven and Jesse Loven. She passed peacefully into the arms of Jesus on August 13, 2026, with her husband John and daughter Kelley by her side.
Margie graduated Middletown High School in 1959. She attended Southern Seminary and Junior College in Buena Vista, Virginia and graduated in 1963. Margie went to work at Bank of Delaware as a secretary on June 10,1963. On November 28, 1963 she married John Goodier.
Margie sang in the choir at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Odessa, DE, as well as numerous other activities. She led the support group of the Brain Injury Association of Delaware. The thing she loved the most was leading the Hymn Sing and Bible Study at the M.O.T Senior Center in Middletown, DE for over 30 years.
She is survived by her husband of 63 years, John J. Goodier; children, Shawn (Rosemary) of Chadds Ford, PA, Matthew (Kathleen) of Chadds Ford, PA, and Kelley of Odessa, DE; grandchildren: Rebecca Rubenstein (Ari) of Avon, CT, Kyle Goodier (Shelby Moore, partner of six years) of Phoenix, AZ, Owen Goodier of Chadds Ford, PA and Henry Goodier of Portland, OR. She was predeceased by her parents, Jesse and Marge Loven.
A visitation for family and friends will be held from 10:30 am to 12 noon on Thursday, August 20, 2026 at Connection Community Church, 4744 Summit Bridge Rd., Middletown, DE 19709, where a funeral service will begin at 12 noon. Interment will follow in Old Drawyers Cemetery, 2839 DuPont Parkway, Middletown, DE.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Margie’s memory to Connection Community Church at the address above or to the MOT Senior Center, 300 South Scott Street, Middletown, DE, 19709.

To the family and loved ones of Marjorie Loven Goodier, I want to extend my deepest condolences during this difficult time.I had the privilege of being one of Marjorie’s caregivers, and when you care for someone, they can become more than just a person you are there to assist. You begin to learn who they are their personality, their ways, the little things that make them them and a bond can form that stays with you long after your work is done.Marjorie was one of those people I will remember.It was truly an honor to be trusted with her care and to be a small part of her life. As a caregiver, there are certain people who leave an imprint on your heart without even realizing it, and Marjorie was one of those people for me.
To her family, thank you for allowing me the opportunity to care for someone who meant so much to you. I know that the loss you are experiencing goes far beyond anything words can fully comfort. I pray that, in time, the memories you shared with her bring you peace in the moments when you miss her the most.

I recognized the name Goodier and remembered fondly having Kyle in my class at WMS. I think the family moved to Chadds Ford soon after and I lost touch.
I enjoyed the pictures of Margie and know they will bring back good memories of her life with her family. She was a very pretty woman. My condolences to all.
