Martin Lewis “Marty” MacLaren

Martin Lewis “Marty” MacLaren, age 86, of Newark, DE, passed away on Friday, July 11, 2025.
Born in Wilmington, DE on July 9, 1938, he was a son of the late William Howard Taft MacLaren and Bessie Elizabeth (Maier) Windle. Marty proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy. He made his career as a forklift driver for Gaylord Container. In his spare time he enjoyed softball, bowling, and watching NASCAR. Marty was also a huge Philadelphia Eagles and Phillies fan. Active in his community, he was a member of the American Legion, Elks Lodge and a lifetime member of the Loyal Order of Moose.
In addition to his parents, Marty was preceded in death by his wife, Helen MacLaren; daughter, Debbie DeBow; and brother, William MacLaren. He is survived by his children, Tracy Sharp, Martie Tankersley (Rob), and Robin Pierce (Randy); brother, Roy MacLaren; 7 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
A visitation for family and friends will be held from 10 am until 11 am on Thursday, July 24, 2025, at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 North DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE, where a funeral service will begin at 11 am. Interment will follow in Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 North DuPont Highway, New Castle, DE.
