Mary Ann Reder-Hopper

September 20, 1959 - November 23, 2021

Mary Ann Reder-Hopper, age 62, of Bear, DE, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, November 23, 2021.

Born in Wilmington, DE, on September 20, 1959, she was a daughter of Mary (Ferenc) Reder and the late Anton Reder. Mary is survived by her loving husband of 26 years, Jimmy Carl Hopper, Sr; brother, Anthony Reder (Jill) and his son, Jack; sons, Jimmy Hopper, Jr. (Lauren) and Matthew Hopper (Shauna); grandchildren, Jimmy III, Lucy, Luke, Urijah, and Valencia; and cousins in the United States and overseas.

Mary graduated from William Penn High School in 1977, where she made many lifelong friends. Following graduation, Mary started her 44-year career with DuPont. She continued her education by receiving numerous degrees from Wilmington College.

Mary will always be known for her smile, her laugh and her stories. She enjoyed being with friends and family and would never miss a chance to get together.  She loved the time that she spent with the grandchildren.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 12 pm until 1 pm on Wednesday, December 8, 2021, at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 275 East Main Street, Middletown, DE. A memorial service will begin at 1 pm.  The family requests that all in attendance where a face mask, regardless of vaccination status, and be mindful of social distancing.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that friends and family make a donation to St. Peter the Apostle R.C. Church, 521 Harmony Street, New Castle, DE 19720, or to a charity of the donor’s choice in Mary’s memory.
