Mary C. Kulas - Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Homes & Crematory

Mary C. Kulas

January 18, 1930 - February 6, 2025

Services for Mrs. Kulas have been rescheduled from Friday, February 21, 2025 and will now be held on Friday, March 14, 2025.

Mary C. Kulas, age 95, of Middletown, DE, and formerly of New Castle, DE, was called home to the Lord on Thursday, February 6, 2025.

Born in Wilmington, DE on January 18, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Anthony and Catherine Kozo. Mary attended St. Hedwig Elementary School and was a graduate of Wilmington High School. She made her career as a bookkeeper at Weymouth & Smith Insurance for many years. Mary loved her job and still stayed in contact with her work friends even after her retirement.

Mary enjoyed nothing more than spending time with her family, including frequent family dinners and spending time at the family beach house. When she wasn’t watching her Hallmark movies, she loved watching westerns, horse racing, and Kelly and Mark with her son, Joe. Mary enjoyed her many daily phone calls with her daughter, Chris, facetiming with her grandkids, scrolling Facebook, leisure car rides, shopping trips to Walgreens which she still referred to as “Happy Harry’s,” listening to music and sneaking her grand-dogs treats. She was a devout Catholic and attended Mass as often as she could. Mary lived her life putting others first and her love for God, her family and friends was so big and contagious. She loved being a MomMom and thanked God every day that she was still around to be a part of her grandchildren’s lives. They filled her life with joy, laughter and boundless love and she was so incredibly proud of them. Mary was a beacon of love and light and she will be greatly missed by all who loved her.

In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her loving husband, Joseph Kulas, Sr.; and brother, Joseph Kozo. She is survived by her children, Christine Borowenski and Joseph J. Kulas, Jr.; grandchildren, Jennifer Fitzgerald (Chadd) and Bryan Borowenski (Nicole); great-grandchildren, Chandler Fitzgerald, Alexia Fitzgerald, Gianna Borowenski, and Eva Borowenski; nephew and nieces, Francis Kulas, Jr., Cathy Kleimann, and Alisa McNichol; and her other beloved family members.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 10 am until 11 am on Friday, March 14, 2025, at St. Peter the Apostle R.C. Church, 521 Harmony Street, New Castle, DE, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11 am. Interment will follow in the adjoining cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mary’s memory to St. Peter the Apostle R.C. Church, at the address listed above, or online by clicking here.
