Mary Garrett “Mert” Brown, entered into Heaven to be with her beloved husband Jacob in the early morning hours of January 23, 2021. Mary was born to Elwood Hoops Garrett and Hannah Darlington Levis Garrett and grew up in Swarthmore, Pennsylvania. Mary and Jacob settled in Newark, Delaware where she was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Mary is survived by her three children, Deborah Brown Roach of Florida, Jacob Embree Brown, Jr. of California, and Rebecca Brown Bruno of Virginia; and her grandson, Jacob Garrett Bruno.
Mary had unlimited energy, in addition to working at the Delaware Curative Workshop, she loved participating in and watching sports, raising three children (as well as the neighborhood kids), loving her Golden Retrievers, power walks around the neighborhood, sailing the Delaware River and Chesapeake Bay, antiquing, gardening, knitting and needlepoint, playing Bridge, traveling, baking, her neighbors, her Quaker faith and Friends meeting, and volunteer work.
