Matthew R. “Matt” Nye, Sr., age 51, of Clayton, DE, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family on Friday, July 3, 2026.
Born in Wilmington, DE, on February 16, 1975, he was the son of Adelyn Nye. Matt made his career as a sourcing manager for 3M in Pencader, dedicating 31 years of service. He was also co-owner of 1861 Restaurant in Middletown, alongside his wife.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Ashley N. Stratton; children, Matthew Ryan Nye, Jr. (Mariah Munoz), Noah A’dyn Nye, Liam Xavier Nye, Logan Douglas Nye and Zoë Elizabeth Nye; grandson, Matthew Ryan Nye III; and canine companion, Taco.
A visitation for family and friends will be held from 9:30 am until 11:30 am on Thursday, July 30, 2026, at Seeds of Greatness, 828 Frenchtown Road, New Castle, DE, where a funeral service will begin at 12 pm. Interment will be held privately.

Matt was my boss as well as a friend. During my time at 3M , he supported me in every single way even when I was wrong. After I lost my job , he kept in touch and gave me any recommendation I needed. He was a great man to everyone came in contact with him. He will be dearly missed.
