Maude D. “Maudy” Wright

August 3, 1941 - November 18, 2025

Maude D. “Maudy” Wright, of Smyrna, Delaware, passed away on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, at the age of 84.

Born on August 3, 1941 in Jersey City, New Jersey, Maude was the beloved daughter—among three sons—of the late Benjamin and Viola Wright. She graduated from Weequahic High School in 1960 and soon began her career at Uptown Printing in Newark, NJ. As the only woman in the office, she was admired for her professionalism, dedication, and strong work ethic. She later joined Bell Atlantic (now Verizon), where she advanced into management and retired in 2000.

Maude was a woman of deep faith. After carefully studying the Bible, she symbolized her dedication to Jehovah God on July 1, 1973, when she was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses. She served with sincerity and humility, sharing zealously in the ministry, teaching others Bible truths, and spending many years as a full-time pioneer. Her love for helping others draw closer to Jehovah brought her immense joy.

Maude possessed a beautifully harmonious singing voice that many admired. She loved to sing—at weddings, gatherings, and at the Kingdom Hall—and her voice brought joy to all who heard it. She also enjoyed traveling, listening to good music, spending time with loved ones, and finding peace in gardening.

Maude was preceded in death by her parents, Benjamin Wright, Sr. and Viola Rae Turner Wright; and by her brothers, Benjamin Wright, Jr. and Leon Edward Wright, Sr.

She is survived by her devoted younger brother, Ronald W. Wright, who lovingly cared for her until her passing; her nephews, Leon Edward Wright Jr. and Charles Wright, and their families; her nieces, Shonda Wright and Cathy Wright, and their families. She is also survived by many cousins, including Alan Strickland and family, Barbara Sawyer and family, Marnetta Sawyer, Audrey and her husband, Greg and their family, Ralph and his wife, Beryl and their family, Shari Sawyer, Olivia Sawyer, Edward Vaughn and family, Nathan Vaughn and family, Matthew Elliott, Phil Turner, Jimmy Brown and Deborah Brown.

Maude will be remembered for her beautiful voice, her kindness, her unwavering faith in Jehovah, her passion for teaching Bible truths, and the love she generously extended to all. She will be deeply missed.

A memorial service will begin at 3:30 pm on Saturday, December 13th, 2025, at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 300 Elm Street, Smyrna, DE 19977. Services will be live streamed on Zoom.
