Max Robert Figgins

Max Robert Figgins, age 81, of New Castle, DE, passed away on Tuesday, June 30, 2026.

Born in Columbus, OH on September 1, 1944, he was a son of the late Max Robertson and Kathryn (Marshall) Figgins. Born to a military family, Max graduated from high school in Germany. During his college years, he was drafted into the United States Army during the Vietnam War, where he served as a helicopter pilot.

While living in Ohio, Max met the love of his life, Dorothy Maffitt, and together they raised four loving children. On June 15^th of this year, they celebrated 52 years of marriage. During his time in Ohio, Max served as a police officer. When he and his family moved to Delaware, he worked as a private investigator at All State Investigation and Security. An avid outdoorsman, Max enjoyed hunting and fishing. Skilled in martial arts, he was a third-degree black belt in Taekwondo and Jiu-Jitsu. Max was also a talented artist who loved to draw.

In addition to his parents, Max was preceded in death by his son, Vernon “Chip” Maxwell; son-in-law, Stephen Zack; and brother, Jim Figgins. He is survived by his loving wife, Dorothy (Maffitt) Figgins; children, Rick Maxwell (Linda), Dale Maxwell (Sheri), and Dawn Zack; daughter-in-law, Cheryl Maxwell; 12 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

All services will be held privately.
