Michael Christopher “Mike” Kardos - Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Homes & Crematory

Michael Christopher “Mike” Kardos

Michael Christopher “Mike” Kardos, age 39, of Dover, DE, and formerly of Bear, DE, passed away on Tuesday, January 5, 2021.

To know Mike was to love Mike. His infectious smile, awesome laugh and love for life has touched so many people’s hearts. Mike’s compassion for others and animals was uncanny and people describe him as the most crazy, sweet, loveable guy they ever met who would give you the shirt off his back. He had an endless number of friends because of his kind heart, bigger than life personality and sense of humor that could lift anyone up. Mike loved his family in good times and bad and no words can describe the bond with his twin, Brian. We could list the important people in his life, but the list is long, and we all know who they were from friends and family to bosses and Mentors. He also has loved ones who he has lost and cared about dearly and will be reunited with.

Mike was a thrill seeker and loved everything that had to do with the outdoors and motors. He was an avid hunter both with bow and rifle and fisher both in the Chesapeake and deep sea, or anywhere there was water. Mike was so great at everything he did, from his job to his many amazing hobbies, which included: hunting, fishing, racing cars, boats, helicopters, RC cars and basically anything with a motor. He could take anything apart and put it back together, just for fun or to put it back together faster than the last time. Mike was an incredible son, brother, uncle, and friend who was a caring soul and will never be forgotten.

Mike is survived by his mother, Elizabeth M. “Betty” (Windsor) Volzone (Michael) of Newark; father, Joseph A. Kardos, Jr. (Sandi) of Elkton, MD; siblings, Tammy M. Kardos of New Castle, Joseph A. Kardos III of Chapel Hill, NC, Christina A. Kardos of Ranson, WV and Brian M. Kardos (Ashley) of Hockessin; and nieces and nephews, Joe, Sydney, Cameron, Mason, Katelyn, Alyssa, Emily and Joey.

All services will be held privately.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mike’s memory to the Chesapeake Bay Foundation, Attn: Membership Department, 6 Herndon Avenue, Annapolis, MD 21403.

  • Mike was the very best HVAC person I’ve ever known. He took such pride in what he did and was always looking out for his customers. He made sure everything was perfect, there was no settling for “good enough”. I, like many others, depended on him and his knowledge and skill. Prayers to all his friends and family. He will be missed.

  • Joe I’m so sorry for your lost my God Bless your family at this difficult time !

  • I had the pleasure of meeting Mikey through his twin brother Brian. I immediately realized that they not only shared their good looks, but the twin brothers shared a “tremendous” heart. Mikey was sweet, kind, funny and willing to help me but asked NOTHING in return. He was a knowledgeable professional in every sense. I’m absolutely certain that Mikey was loved, not only by his family, but by many others that graced his presences. He will be missed!

  • Prayers that you & the family will find comfort & peace during this very difficult time.

  • I only had the pleasure of meeting “Kardos” (what I called him) one time. I met him through my friend, Amanda. When my A/C went out, she said I know the perfect person to fix that! When Kardos came to the house, I apologized because the house was a hotbox, it was so hot. We laughed a bit because we were sweating like crazy. He knew exactly what my old A/C unit had needed, ordered it and installed it. I really appreciated his expertise, and kindness during the visit. It saddened my heart to hear of his passing he was such a cool guy. Sending prayers for his family as another angel has received his wings🕊- Aisha Thomas & Family

  • Like others, I met Mike when I was referred to him (from a competitor) for AC services. Due to Mike’s very friendly and professional demeanor and his thorough explanation of what was wrong with our current system as well as how his company would install and maintain a new system, there was no doubt, he was the guy for the job. During that visit he discovered that my son, who was living “home” at the time, had a collection of snakes. Mike was immediately enamored with them and spent some time looking at them and telling me about the various snakes. When we went outside he saw my sports car and my Harley and the conversation continued. On a subsequent visit, I tossed Mike the keys to my car and we went for a ride as he raced through the gears. From my initial meeting with Mike I was impressed. After our first meeting, I would send him an occasional text to, “Hey A/C Dude.” His response was always, “Hey, Ol Dude.” Mike was a great guy and I am very sorry to learn of his passing. The world could use a few more Mikes!

  • I only learned today of Mikes passing and was devastated.I thought i would see him today for my ac tune up appt.My heart and prayers go out to his family. He was so kind and had a great sense of humor.RIP Mike.
