Michael Deremer, age 74, of Newark, DE, passed away on Friday, December 26, 2025.
Born in Morenci, AZ on February 24, 1951, he was a son of the late Alice Joy (McCoy) Miller. Michael loved living in Newark and had been a resident for 30 years. He worked at Goodwill of Delaware for over 50 years. Michael was a dedicated and loyal employee who loved his job.
Michael always looked forward to going out to eat and to the movies. In his spare time, he could often be found watching NASCAR. Michael enjoyed finding the perfect Hallmark card for his family and friends to make their season special. Most of all, he loved his family and cherished the time he spent with his brother, David. Michael will be dearly missed and his memory will live in his family’s hearts forever.
Michael was preceded in death by his mother, Alice Miller. He is survived by his brother, David C. Miller (Debbie) of Newark.
A visitation for family and friends will be held from 10 am until 11 am on Tuesday, January 6, 2026, at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 121 West Park Place, Newark, DE, where a funeral service will begin at 11 am. Interment will follow in Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 North DuPont Highway, New Castle, DE.

It was such a blessing to have seen Mike just last week during a holiday visit to the Newark Goodwill store. Mike had more than 50 years of dedication to Goodwill and became a cornerstone at the Newark location. We will miss the kindness and positive spirit that he brought to the store every single day.

I’m extremely sad to hear about Mike’s passing. I’ve known him for over 20 years, since our time working together at Goodwill in Newark, and he’s felt like part of my family ever since. We never missed a card for any holiday or birthday, and I always looked forward to seeing him at the store. Mike was one of the kindest, most genuine people I’ve ever known, and I’ll miss him so much. The world was brighter with him in it.

Michael came into my job every morning for breakfast before work. Such a lovely person with a heart of kindness and compassion. I’ve known him since I was a kid shopping at the Goodwill with my mom. I will miss the positivity and joy he always brought to the cafe 💓
