Michael James Joseph LeVasseur, age 75, of Newark, DE, passed away on Sunday, March 6, 2022.

Born in Flint, MI, on June 5, 1946, he was a son of the late Wilfred and Joan (Howie) LeVasseur. Michael proudly served in the United States Army, and made his career as a master carpenter at the University of Delaware, retiring after many years. He had a passion for woodworking and building furniture.

In addition to his parents, Michael was preceded in death by his brothers, John and Paul LeVasseur; and nephew, Eric LeVasseur. He is survived by his loving daughter, Kristine S. Short (James Schuler); grandchildren, Dustin, Haley, and Tyler Short, and Devin Schuler; great-grandchildren, Raine Kirk, Josie Short, and Dakota Short; nephews, Wilfred and John LeVasseur; niece, Cynthia Clem; and great-niece, Julia Clem.

All services will be held privately.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Michael’s memory to Lt. J. Allison O’Daniel VFW Post 475, 100 Veterans Drive, Newark, DE 19711.
