Michael John “Mike” Fahey

August 18, 1963 - November 2, 2019

Michael John “Mike” Fahey, age 56, of Newark, DE, passed away on Saturday, November 2, 2019.

Born in Wilmington, DE on August 18, 1963, he was a son of John Joseph Fahey and the late E. Marie (Grygo) Fahey.  Mike was raised in Glasgow, DE and graduated from Delcastle Technical High School in 1981.  He was a licensed electrician.  Mike dedicated 30 years of employment to General Motors.  Following retirement, he went to work for the State of Delaware, where Mike transported employees from Delaware City to Pea Patch Island by boat.

He loved the outdoors and anything to do with beach life in Fenwick Island.  Mike loved to fish and crab from his pontoon boat and enjoyed the fellowship of his family and friends.  He and his wife liked playing bingo at High Stakes Grill.  Mike was a true Chevrolet car collector and was extremely proud of his first car, a 1967 Camaro and his favorite summer ride, a 1968 Chevelle convertible.  Mike will always be remembered for having a generous heart and his giving ways for everyone.

He is survived by his father, John; wife, Paula Elizabeth (Horner) Fahey; children, Michael Fahey, Jr. (Mandy), Paul Fahey (Brittany) and Stacie Fahey (Luis); twin brother, Mark Fahey (Paula); step-daughter, Lindsay Slagle (Drew Johnston); uncle, Adam Grygo (Ellen); aunts, Dorothy Stringer and Janet Fahey; grandchildren, Michael, Madison, Myles, Avah, Louie and Mason; several cousins; a niece, Kelli Newton; and a nephew, Ryan Fahey.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 6 pm until 7 pm on Thursday, November 7, 2019, at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 121 West Park Place, Newark, DE.  All services and interment will be held privately.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Mike’s memory to the Alzheimer’s Association, 399 Market Street, Ste. 102, Philadelphia, PA 19106.

25 Condolences for Michael John “Mike” Fahey

  • My prayers and condolences to his wife Paula and family. May Mike RIP

  • I am very sorry to hear that Mike has passed. It’s been around 40 yrs. since I met Mike and Mark while all three of us were working at McDonald’s. I have fond memories of riding around in that old 67 Camaro, bowling in the Big Elk Mall league and just hanging out with our friends. I remember his mom and dad were always nice to me and made me feel welcome at their house. In that respect, Mike took after his parents, he truly was a nice guy.

  • Dear Paula, and all of Mike’s dearly loved ones, I am so sorry that Mike left you all much too soon. Please try to think of the happy, loving times that you shared. I know you would never give up a moment of them, for this not to hurt so immeasurably now. My thoughts and prayers are with you all. With Deepest Sympathy, Pam Edwards

Our Deepest Sympathy goes out to you and everyone in your family. Mike will truly be missed, he was like a brother to me in so many ways. We met at GM 15 yrs. ago and became very good friends through the years. He was always helpful, caring and generous to everyone he met. My memories of him at work and play in Ohio and in Fenwick Island will always be etched in our minds. It seems that the Lord always takes the good people too early in our lives. Rest in Peace my Friend!
