Michael Robert “Mike” Waclo
October 12, 1963 - June 26, 2026
Michael Robert Waclo, affectionately known as “Mike”, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 26, 2026, in Wilmington, Delaware, at the age of 62. Born on October 12, 1963, in Wilmington, Delaware, Michael spent his life deeply connected to his family and the outdoors he cherished so much.
Michael dedicated much of his career to Local 74 as a union pipefitter. After years of hard work and commitment to his trade, he retired to pursue his passion for commercial crabbing full-time. His love for the water and the outdoors was evident in every aspect of his life. An avid crabber, fisherman, trapper and hunter, Michael found joy and fulfillment in nature’s bounty. So many fond memories were made while out on the boat, in the marsh, in a duck blind or in the deer stand. Summer was the best when all were welcome to pull up a chair at Mike’s house and sit at the picnic table to enjoy freshly caught steamed crabs and sweet, buttery corn, sharing good conversation and laughs. Mike also enjoyed watching football (GO COWBOYS) and NHL games, sharing these moments with those close to him.
Michael’s kind spirit and deep love for his family were constants throughout his life. He is survived by his father, Robert; his sister, Michelle (Ian) Maxton; nephews, Billy (Gina) Maxton and Jacob Maxton; niece, Carly Maxton; and many extended relatives and lifelong friends. He was predeceased by his mother, Carlette Waclo; and his beloved dogs, Nelly and Kimba, who brought him great companionship over the years.
A celebration of Michael’s life will be held at a later date to honor his memory and the impact he had on those who knew him.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Michael’s name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or online by clicking here.
May Michael’s memory bring comfort to all who knew him and serve as a reminder of a life well-lived amidst family, friends, and the great outdoors he so dearly loved.

Mike was part of a great family. His parents, Bobby and Carlette have been family friends for decades. So many memories hanging out at his house after a day of hunting, BS’n with friends and eating great food. Mike helped me get my first deer over 30 years ago. My brother and I would buy crabs from Mike for a yearly party, and they were always the best. Mike was one of a kind. Great friend to so many, and cared about his community around him. Mike will be missed by so many. RIP Mike.

Bobby…
I’m so sorry to hear of Mike’s passing. He was a good friend to all the men in my family. You all shared the same passion for crabbing, hunting, and trapping, and spent many Saturday’s together. I pray that those friendships and fond memories will help to carry you through these hard days. 🙏

Rest In Peace Uncle Mike, So many memories that I will cherish for the rest of my life. From starting commercial crabbing with you as a first starter job, many hunting trips to where you even bought me my first gun for my birthday. You taught me a lot in my life and I will remember them for the rest of my life. Me, Gina and the boys will always remember you. Thank you for being such an amazing Uncle!

Bob and Family, Charlotte and I send out our sympathy to all of you. Everyone who knew Mike knew of his passion for crabbing and trapping. I will remember the times that the two took priory over his regular job, but that was the Mike that we all loved. I will always remember the Saturday’s at “Boy’s Town” Mike’s garage. Crab on brother and I hope you always limit out.

Oh wow Mike I just found this notification. I’m devastated and crying. All the time we spent doing things outdoors. I got married 30 years and kids. Life got between us. I wish I could have said goodbye. You are missed. I’m sure God has a marsh for you.
