Mildred Marie “Milly” (Galaini) Adams

July 7, 1927 - January 1, 2025

Mildred Marie “Milly” (Galaini) Adams, age 97, of New Castle, Delaware, passed away on New Year’s Day, 2025, at Sunrise of Dresher Assisted Living facility in Dresher, Pennsylvania.

Born in Berlin, NJ on July 7, 1927, she was a daughter of the late George and Lillian (Rameh) Galaini. Mildred graduated from Haddon Heights High School and the Cooper Hospital School of Nursing as a Registered Nurse.  She married Harry Adams in 1948 and had a busy life as a mother, nurse and working in the family business, Harry L. Adams, Inc Heating and Air Conditioning.

Mildred was one of five very close and loving sisters.  She enjoyed spending time at her Ocean City, New Jersey vacation home. Mildred liked taking long walks, traveling, playing Pinochle and is known for her “Hot Milk Cake”.  Always a nurse at heart, she will be remembered for her remarkable strength and as a caring person, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend whose warmth, wisdom and humor touched all who knew her.

Mildred was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Harry L. Adams and sisters, Adele Stites and Hazel Maultz. She is survived by her son, Lee Adams (Andrea Driscoll); daughter, Barbara Hogan (Bernie); grandchildren, Natalie Hogan and Gregory Hogan; sisters, Marion Thompson and Grace Bieber; as well as a number of very close nieces and nephews.

A graveside service for family and friends will begin at 11:00 am on Saturday, January 11, 2025, in Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 North DuPont Highway, New Castle, DE.

  • Barbara, Lee, and Marion, I’m so sorry about Mildred’s passing. We all have wonderful memories about time spent with her. I was even a recipient of one of her hot milk cakes! You were fortunate to have such a wonderful mother and sister.

    Ed and I are so sorry for your loss. Mildred led a very full life. Remembering meeting her at a birthday dinner for Marion while we were at the U o D. After graduating settled in Wilmington and eventually became long time customers of Harry L. Adam’s. We had fun catching up when I would call to schedule for service. She was always interested in what was going on with our family and so proud of hers. Thought and prayers with you at this time.

  • We didn’t have much time with auntie Mildred as Bryan and Christian, but we loved every minute we got to spend with her! She was always so sweet!! Remember her playing on the carpet with Izy when she was about 5 years old! Auntie Mildred was a sweetheart and will be deeply missed!

  • I went on here to look at my father’s obituary but I saw this beautiful woman and her life, she was someone’s wife,mother and so on and I wanted to to pay my respect and condolences to everyone that knew her. She sounds like a wonderful person who gave so much. So sorry for the loss to family and friends.

  • I met ms Mildred at Mrs. Thompson‘s when she would come to visit. She was always so kind to me and so humble always offering to help. I will remember her for those beautiful qualities. I send my condolences and prayers to the family. I know that she will always be in their hearts And her memory will live on.
