Mildred S. “Millie” King
July 20, 1941 - August 30, 2026
Mildred S. “Millie” King, age 85, of New Castle, DE, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, August 30, 2026.
Born in Wilmington, DE on July 20, 1941, she was a daughter of the late Roy and Mae (Walton) Stewart. Millie was a graduate of William Penn High School, and earned her Associates degree from Goldey-Beacom College. She began working for Hercules, and briefly with Colonial School District, before returning back to Hercules. Upon the arrival of her first child, Millie enjoyed raising her family as a stay-at-home mom. After her third child was born, she went back to her career at Hercules where she worked until her retirement in 1999.
A devout Christian, Millie joined Marshallton United Methodist Church in 2013, where she sang in the Chancel Choir, was an active member of the SPRC, and a former member of the Women’s Group. Above all, she enjoyed making memories with her family. Millie often looked forward to going to Cool Springs Restaurant and Walter’s Steakhouse with her loved ones.
In addition to her parents, Millie was preceded in death by her son, David Alan King; and sister, Dorothy Fournier. She is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, Edward Frank King; sons, Robert “Bob” King and Jeffery Scott King (Holly); grandchildren, Patrick King and Samantha King; great-grandson, Colson Curtin; and many dear friends including her church family.
A visitation for family and friends will be held from 10 am until 11 am on Saturday, September 12, 2026, at Marshallton United Methodist Church, 1105 Stanton Road, Wilmington, DE 19808, where a memorial service will begin at 11 am. Inurnment will be held privately.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Millie’s memory to Marshallton United Methodist Church at the address listed above.

We were so saddened to learn of Millie’s passing. We go way back to our days at Asbury Methodist Church with some great memories. We wish we could be there to support the family, but the 750 mile distance between us keeps us from attending the services. We will continue to keep everyone in our thoughts and prayers from afar.

Dear Ed: It is with sadness that I write this. Knowing you and Mildred from when we were kids growing up in Wilm. Manor through high school at Wm.
