Milton L. “Bud” Sikes II, age 81, of Dover, DE, passed away on Thursday, October 3, 2024.
Born in Pennsylvania on September 2, 1943, he was the son of the late Milton L. and Henrietta (Gorman) Sikes. Bud proudly served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He made his career as a software engineer at Westinghouse and Boeing.
Bud was a loving family man. The most important thing to him was his family: his wife of 50 years, his children, and grandchildren. He delighted in taking his family on trips to their favorite vacation destination, Walt Disney World. Later in life, he found a love of cruising and made many amazing memories at sea with his family. Bud enjoyed cooking and treating his family to delicious seafood meals. He cherished and took great care of his family pets, Kelly, Sniffles, Abbey, Bella, and Gizmo.
Bud could often be found cheering on his favorite Philadelphia sports teams, the Phillies, Flyers, and Eagles. In his younger years, he enjoyed playing golf and being part of his softball team, ‘The Wild Bunch’. Bud loved learning about war history and was a World War II and Vietnam War buff. Very recently, Bud achieved a bucket list goal by visiting the beaches of Normandy on a special trip to France.
In addition to his parents, Bud was preceded in death by his loving wife, Loretta (Perkowski) Sikes; grandson, JC Kane II; sister-in-law, Pat Perkowski; and brother-in-law, Joe Perkowski. He is survived by his daughters, Kimberly Kane (John) and Holly Sikes; grandson, Ryan Kane; brother-in-law, Ed Perkowski (Rachel); nephew, Ryan Perkowski; and niece, Stephanie Thompson.
A graveside service for family and friends will begin at 12:30 pm on Saturday, November 2, 2024 in SS. Peter & Paul Cemetery, Springfield, PA.
