Nancy D. Palmer

July 22, 1939 - August 26, 2020

Nancy D. Palmer, age 81, of New Castle, DE, passed away peacefully at home after a courageous battle with cancer on August 26, 2020.

Born in Edgemoor, DE, on July 22, 1939, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Lola Stapleford, Sr.

Nancy grew up as a tomboy. She was a faithful friend, who always had a listening ear and a shoulder to cry on. Nancy would make you laugh with her quick wit and easy going personality. She was a good soul and a rare treasure we hold dear to our hearts.

Nancy loved life as a full-time mom and homemaker. She enjoyed vacations traveling with her husband. Nancy loved nature and the simple things. She enjoyed cooking and baking. Christmas will never be the same without her gingerbread cookies. Nancy was an avid fan of the Philadelphia sports teams, and bled green for her Eagles. She also enjoyed watching boxing and NASCAR, rooting for Dale Earnhardt, Sr. and Jr. Nancy was a forever fan of the late golfing legend Arnold Palmer, naming a son after him. Interested in politics, she was a true Democrat, hoping to cast her vote in November for Delaware’s Presidential candidate, Joe Biden.

In addition to her parents Nancy was preceded in death by her beloved brother, Robert Stapleford, Jr. and close relatives, Nancy Ball and Alice Stapleford. She is survived by her hard working, dedicated, and loving husband of 62 years, Leslie R Palmer, Sr.; children, Debra Raymond (Tom), Della Sheppard, Leslie Palmer, Jr. ( Lanita) and Arnold Palmer (Coleen); grandchildren, Daniel Mace, Kenneth Mace, Sara Henderson ( William), Blake, Andrew Palmer (AJ), Kevin Palmer, Daniel Palmer ( Madeleine), Olivia Palmer ( Livvy), Jaiden Palmer, Alanna Palmer, and Matthew Palmer; and great grandchildren, Madeliene, Isabella and Chase.

Mom Mom Nancy loved all of her grandchildren and greats. Her smile would light up the room when she bragged about their accomplishments. Nancy was a proud mom mom who enjoyed every moment spent with and talking to her grands. She will always be our sunshine; cherished and remembered fondly.

Services and interment will be held privately.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Nancy’s memory to the American Cancer Society, 92 Read’s Way, Suite 205, New Castle, DE 19720.
