Nancy Louise Long, 91, cherished and beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and friend, passed away on April 21, 2026, in Newark, Delaware.

She was born on January 22, 1935, in Munhall, Pennsylvania, to Edward Walls and Margaret (Selai) Walls. She graduated from Munhall High School. She lived in Munhall until her marriage to William D. Long. She and William were married in May 1954 in Las Vegas, Nevada. They were married for fifty-two years. After her marriage, she moved to Monterey Park, California, then moved to Colts Neck, New Jersey, before moving to Newark, Delaware, to live with her daughter, Linda Liechty.

She was an active volunteer in Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, classroom Mother, and the PTA, while her children were in school. She was an active volunteer with the Colts Neck Senior’s Club and Colts Neck Women’s Club for 35 years. She was very active in various Club committees but her favorites were the Veteran’s Day Committee honoring the Veterans living in Colts Neck and Annual Flea Market that raised money for scholarships. She was awarded a flag from the United States Marine Corps flown in her honor for her work with the Veteran’s Day Committee, luncheon, and parade.

She was well known for her delicious and beautifully decorated Gingerbread cookies that she made for family and friends during each holiday. She was also known for decorating her house, inside and out, for each holiday much to the delight of her family and friends. She passed on her Gingerbread cookie recipe and decorating skills to her daughters who, in turn, passed it onto their children and grandchildren.

She was a member of the Newark Senior Center, Delaware, where she enjoyed Bingo, the Song Bird concerts, and holiday luncheons.

She was predeceased by her parents Edward and Margaret (Selai) Walls, her grandparents Frank and Ann (Smutka) Selai, her husband William D. Long, her sons Bruce Long and Thomas Long, her brothers Edward Walls (Ursela) and Robert Walls (Marcie), and her sisters Marion Urasek (Regis) and Betty Ann Slater (Melvin)

She is survived by her daughters Linda Liechty (Melvin) and Carol Provow (David), grandchildren Christopher Tarnowski, Jenna Henkel (Erik), Nicole Provow, Ashley Riedel (Michael), and Michael Provow (Kelsey), great-grandchildren, Veronika Henkel and Harrison Henkel, and numerous nieces and nephews.

There will be no visitation and services are private. She will be interned with her husband at the Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery in New Jersey.
