Nancy Louise Weeden
July 2, 1936 - February 7, 2025
Nancy Louise Weeden, age 88, of Bear, DE, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Friday, February 7, 2025.
Born in Tamaqua, PA on July 2, 1936, she was a daughter of the late Edgar A. and Mae Louise (Leonard) Lockwood. Nancy was a graduate of P.S. DuPont High School.
Nancy was an active member of the community and involved with her church, St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, that she regularly attended for many years. She belonged to the New Century Club of Newark. You could often find her at either the Newark or MOT Senior Center or with her friends enjoying a game of bridge. She was a lifetime member of the USCC Aux. Flt #14 of Newark. Nancy enjoyed boating on the Chesapeake Bay and her and Carl would keep their boat at Two Rivers Yacht Basin on the Bohemia River in MD for many years. Her and Carl were also well traveled and spent many years traveling all over the United States, as well as a few foreign countries. Nancy enjoyed spending time with her husband, of 63 years until his passing in 2018. She treasured spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. For the past few years she loved reading and you could always find her curled up with a good book.
In addition to her parents, Nancy was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Weeden and sister-in-law, Jean Dwyer (Paul). She is survived by her daughters, Jan Spence (Jack) and Gail Carpenter (Dudley); sister, Carole Wagner; grandchildren, Chad Spence (Kate), Kyle Spence (Regan), Andrew Carpenter (Megan) and Sarah Smith (Alex); great-grandchildren, Haley Spence and Madeline Smith; and many nieces and nephews.
