Nancy M. Parker

August 19, 1939 - January 20, 2021

Nancy M. Parker, age 81, of New Castle, DE, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, January 20, 2021.

Born on August 19, 1939 in Brooklyn, NY, she was a daughter of the late Carmine and Raffaela (Tammaro) Mossorofo. Growing up in Brooklyn, Nancy and her husband moved to New Castle, DE in 1961 to raise their family.

A woman of strong faith, she attended Holy Spirit Catholic Church where she was a member of their Sodality for more than 40 years. Nancy enjoyed being a homemaker and raising their three sons, who she loved dearly. After raising her own children, she treasured being a grandmother and spoiling her grandchildren. In her spare time, Nancy could often be found shopping for bargains and enjoyed spending time at Delaware Park. Most of all, she loved spending time with her Mossorofo family. Nancy will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, William X. Parker, Jr.; son, George Parker; and siblings, Phil Dragotto, Lala Matranga, Gloria Martinez, Tina Mossorofo, Sonny Mossorofo, and Georgie Mossorofo. Nancy is survived by her children, William Parker III (Dottie) and Michael Parker; sisters, Rosie Ferraro and Camille Grilli; sister-in-law, Ann Mossorofo; brother-in-law, Sal Dragotto; grandchildren, William, Adam, and Caitlyn Parker; and many nieces and nephews.

All services and interment will be held privately.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Seasons Hospice, 220 Continental Drive, Ste 101, Newark, DE 19713 or to Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 12 Winder Road, New Castle, DE 19720.

She and Caitlyn had such a strong bond and the fact that they looked so much alike made it even sweeter. I know how much she meant to her whole family, and I consider myself lucky to have been apart of her world. God bless her family and friends during this difficult time.

  • Sending our love and condolences to Nancy’s family. We knew Nancy through her granddaughter Caitlyn. Caitlyn has been in a relationship with our grandson for six years. If anyone knows Caitlyn they understand the very close friendship and bond those two shared. Caitlyn having lost her father at such an impressionable age drew closer to her grandmother. Even in high school when most teens lose interest in older relatives she kept us all entertained with stories of the time spent with Nancy. They joked, teased and she confided in her. Many nights we dropped Caitlyn off at her grandmother’s house . That strong bond continued on after high school. My grandson Liam admired Nancy and felt comfortable calling her grams. On all occasions she was so up and full of life. She seemed ageless. The last time we saw her was at her surprise 80th birthday thrown by her sons. It was a beautiful event and she was Queen for the day. The world has lost a model role but heaven will welcome her humor and spirit. May her soul Rest In Peace.

  • Dearest Billy, Michael and Family,
I have such fond memories of your mom (and family) during our time at Holy Spirit. May all of the love, strong faith and comfort that she has showered upon others help comfort you with her transition to Heaven. Now you have 3 angels! May she rest peacefully with your father and George. Sending love, peace and prayers to all of you – especially during this difficult time.

  • We are so sorry to hear this. We loved spending time with your family at your home enjoying barbeques and parties; also at Holy Spirit hanging out while our parents worked at many functions. My children spent time at your mom’s home also. My mom (Marie Carroll) brought them to swim in her pool many times when they were younger. I will miss her. She was always so kind and asked how we were all doing. Keeping all of you in our thoughts and prayers.
