Olie Jean Kane

Olie Jean Kane, age 92, of Newark, DE, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 1, 2023.

Born in Bristol, TN, on September 19, 1930, she was a daughter of the late Charles Grubb, Sr. and Nancy Alice Grubb Lesson (Poe). Jean made her career as a machinist which first led her to her husband Paul of 60 years while she was working at the former Continental Diamond Fiber company and years later retiring from the former NVF company in Wilmington.

Jean loved to spend time with her family and friends. She adored her one and only grandson Jerry. Jean enjoyed going out to dinner and listening to Country Music. For many years Jean loved to go dancing with her husband Paul and their friends and had been a member of the Moose Lodge. In her later years, Jean liked to sit on her front porch talking to her friends. Jean also enjoyed going to Delaware Park and playing the slots.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Paul M. Kane and siblings, Charles Grubb, Jr., Arlie Grubb and Goldie Evans. Jean is survived and will be deeply missed by her daughter, Donna J. Owens (Richard); grandson, Jerry Johnson (Ericka); and great granddaughter, Sloane Johnson.

The family would like to thank the AccentCare Inpatient Hospice Center at the Christiana Hospital for the care they provided for Jean during the difficult time of her last days.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 11 am until 12 noon on Thursday, April 13, 2023, at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 121 West Park Place, Newark, DE, where a funeral service will begin at 12 noon. Interment will follow in Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 North DuPont Highway, New Castle, DE.
