Pamela Ivy Lack - Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Homes & Crematory

Pamela Ivy Lack

September 17, 1930 - April 15, 2024

Pamela Ivy Lack, age 93, of Newark, DE, passed away on Monday, April 15, 2024.

Born in Willesden, Middlesex, England, on September 17, 1930, she was a daughter of the late Bertie and Ada Elizabeth (Bryant) Cross. Pamela began working at 18 years old in London, England as a furrier, sewing beautiful mink coats. She and her husband, Walter, later immigrated to the United States where she began working as a maid at the DuPont-Rust home, and Walter as a chauffeur and gardener. Pamela would later work at Avon Products as a packer, and at Thikohl in Elkton, MD, where she designed and sewed the fuel tank cover for the Space Shuttle.

Pamela enjoyed crocheting and making charming baby layettes and afghans. She displayed and sold some of her pieces in the gift shop at the Newark Senior Center, where she was an active member and loved to meet her friends. Pamela was also a talented seamstress, spending countless hours creating Halloween costumes and clothing for Jennifer’s plays and concerts. She had an appreciation for the piano and played beautiful renditions of ‘Clair de Lune’ by Debussy as well as ‘The Warsaw Concerto.’ Pamela loved gardening in her spare time, planting dahlias, blue bells, daffodils, and sunflowers, which still bloom magnificently in her garden. In addition to her flowers, she planted vegetables, including tomatoes and peppers.

Pamela and Walter enjoyed bowling; she participated in the Brookside Bowling Team throughout the 1960’s. They also traveled extensively together, visiting Canada, the Bahamas, Florida, and England, and seeing their families along the way. Pamela organized vacations to The Wildwoods in New Jersey which her family looked forward to every summer. When they wanted to stay local, they spent their days soaking up the sun at the Brookside or Brennan Estates pools.

Pamela has left her family with many cherished life lessons and memories over the years. Do the best that you can, contribute what you can to help others, be strong when times get tough and find a way, through gardening, sewing, and sharing joy as much as you can with those around you. Pamela lived what she taught and made the world around her a better place. She will be greatly missed by her loved ones.

In addition to her parents, Pamela was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Lack, Jr. She is survived by her daughter, Jennifer Wallace (Eugene); and grandsons, Mark Wallace and Alexander Wallace.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 2:30 pm until 3:30 pm on Friday, April 26, 2024, at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 121 West Park Place, Newark, DE, where a memorial service will begin at 3:30 pm. Inurnment will be held privately.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Pamela’s memory to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 6704, Hagerstown, MD 21741 or online by clicking here.
