Pastor Robert C. “Bob” Geary

May 20, 1947 - January 16, 2021

Pastor Robert C. “Bob” Geary, age 73, of Camden-Wyoming, DE, passed away on Saturday, January 16, 2021.

Born in Philadelphia, PA on May 20, 1947, he was a son of the late Charles and Dorothy (Hinds) Geary, Sr. Bob graduated from Penns Grove High School, and served his country as a U.S. Marine Corporal. After being discharged honorably, he made his career with DuPont Chambers in Deepwater, NJ. Bob started with the company on the fire squad, advanced to a foreman role and retired as an area manager. He worked as a Woodstown Police officer and for Gettier Security as a vice president of operations. Bob was also a private security guard for former governor, Pete DuPont, and a United Way Chairman of Salem County, NJ. He coached multiple recreational teams in Woodstown, NJ, and was the head of the Woodstown Soccer Club for many years. Bob owned Geary’s Home Services and was commissioned as a Certified Lay Minister (CLM) in June 2018. He served as a CLM with Long Neck United Methodist Church then left to serve as a pastor of Frankford United Methodist Church, before retiring due to his health.

Bob was a keen fisherman, and caught a rare 30” American shad off of the Old Ferry Wharf at the age of 22. He was also a certified expert marksman in the military and with Gettier. Bob enjoyed bow hunting and relished swapping hunting stories with his fellow hunters and best friends, Alan and Tom. He bowled often, earning high scores of 298 and 299. Bob took pleasure in riding motorcycles with his friends, John, Dan, and Gene along with his wife, Trish.

He was a loving husband, father and Pop Pop who was a stranger to no one. If you had the time, Bob had a story to share. He will be missed terribly by so many, but their memories of him will bring joy and laughter to the hearts of those who love him.

In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his brother, John Geary. He is survived by his caring wife of 10 years, Patricia L. “Trish” (Roop) Geary; children, Joseph Geary (Erin) of Mount Laurel, NJ, Katybeth Geary of Narvon, PA and Melissa Adams of Felton; siblings, Chris Geary of Missouri, Donna Lomax of Florida, Dan Geary (Lisa) of Kentucky, and Charles Geary, Jr. of New Jersey; grandchildren, Kaylee, Julius, Natalia, Milani, Caiden, Olivia, and Nathan; and canine buddies, Harley and Tucker.

Services and interment will be held privately.

  • My heart goes out to Bob’s family. I did not know him but learned much through his wife, Trish. I was so happy when she met him and watched on the sideline as their relationship grew. It was a pleasure hearing about him, his faith, and how their relationship grew as they were thick as thieves. I envisioned them riding together on his bike. To the family that loved him, allow yourself to grieve as it is God’s gift, smile when you think of Bob and cherish every moment until you see him again.

  • I’m so thankful that I got to meet Bob!
He made us feel like we had known him forever. He did a great job of raising my son Joe and I’ll be forever grateful to him for that. For sure God was waiting with open arms!!🙏🏻

  • Dear Trish and Family,
We knew your husband and dad for too brief a time while attending Long Neck UMC until Covid wreaked its havoc. We so much appreciated his dedicated leadership of the adult Sunday School class held each week. When he left to pastor at Frankford UMC, no one, including the two of us, stepped forward to take his place to lead our class. His shoes, apparently, were just too big to fill! We also enjoyed our first serving of venison thanks to Bob who gave us a good portion gratis, along with clear instructions on how to cook it! We also had the good fortune of attending one of Pastor Bob’s services at Frankford Church. Not surprisingly, he had a pretty good attendance that Sunday. We had hoped to touch base with both you and Bob, Trish, maybe even having dinner with you actually inside a restaurant. Sadly, that was not to be. But please stay in touch, Trish! God Bless.

  • My prayers are sent to Trish and family you have lost a great man but he’ll be in memories God bless
