Patricia Ann “Pat” Pickhaver

Patricia Ann “Pat” Pickhaver, age 87, of New Castle, DE, passed away on Thursday, June 11, 2026.

Born in Kirkwood, DE on December 12, 1938, she was a daughter of the late Woodall and Jane (Megginson) Sheats. Pat was raised on farms in Kirkwood and New Castle, DE, and was a graduate of William Penn High School in 1956. She worked as an office secretary at Colwyck School before starting a family in 1958.

Pat’s greatest joy was her family; she loved to travel with them to the Outer Banks. She could often be found reading, facetiming her granddaughters, and “not being old.” Pat was very passionate about blood donation and the Blood Bank of Delaware.

In addition to her parents, Pat was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Edwin “Bud” Pickhaver, Sr., who passed in 2015; son, Edwin “Jay” Pickhaver, Jr., who passed in 1970; and sister, Linda Stubbs, who passed in 2017. She is survived by her loving children, Victoria Pickhaver Lenoir of New Castle and Tracey Hoopes (Paul) of Dover; grandchildren, Michael Lenoir (Danielle), Benjamin Lenoir, and Courtney and Katie Hoopes; siblings, William Sheats, Sr. (Dorothy) and Sandra Young (Daniel); great-grandchildren, Alexandra, Mason, Nathan, and Lincoln Lenoir; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 10 am until 11 am on Wednesday, June 17, 2026, at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 North DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE, where a funeral service will begin at 11 am. Interment will follow in Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 North DuPont Highway, New Castle, DE.
