Patricia Scott
May 17, 1962 - May 2, 2025
Patricia Scott, age 62, of Newark, DE, passed away on Friday, May 2, 2025.
Born in Manila, Philippines on May 17, 1962, she was a daughter of the late Victoriano and Edna (Ruiz) Ungson. Patricia graduated from San Jose State University, and enjoyed a productive career in the hospitality industry. Among her roles, she served as a director of sales for Marriott in Aberdeen, MD and also director of sales for Embassy Suites in Newark.
It was as a manager for a Residence Inn in the Bay Area that Patricia met her future husband. As she balanced precariously on a chair putting up Halloween decorations in the hotel breakfast area, a gallant gentleman came to her side and offered to help. Patricia reciprocated by offering to take her helpful guest on a tour of San Francisco, a city she loved to explore. The memorable day together walking along Pier 39 was the beginning of an enduring love story. Patricia and her husband John were married for 31 years.
She loved gardening, travel, and spending time sharing laughter, stories and good food with her extended family and friends. As the youngest of 8 siblings, Patricia could light up any room with her presence and warm sense of humor. She brought kindness, creativity, and a sense of fun to every endeavor. She remained a loyal fan to her favorite Bay Area sports teams, the 49ers and Warriors.
Patricia loved her family deeply. She entertained through storytelling, loved playing games, and served as an enthusiastic tour guide for visiting family and friends. She lovingly provided a ‘home base’ for any of her many beloved nieces and nephews who found themselves living on the East Coast, far from home. For cozy Thanksgiving weekend gatherings and summertime birthday celebrations, “Auntie Patty” welcomed playing the role of ‘bonus parent’ for these special gatherings.
In addition to her parents, Patricia was preceded in death by her brothers, Joseph and Raymond Ungson. She is survived by her loving husband, John Scott; siblings, Emmanuel Ungson, Vincent Ungson, Michael Ungson, Elizabeth Sierra, and Christopher Ungson; and step-son, John Joseph Scott, Jr.
All services will be held privately at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Patricia’s name to National Kidney Foundation, Finance Department, 30 East 33rd Street, New York, NY 10016 or online by clicking here.

I have been in awe of Patty’s gifted ability to find humor in the mundane. It is true that she lit up a room with her presence. The world is a bit dimmer now without her. When I see a bright, shining star, I will think of her. To John and my Ungson cousins, my thoughts are with you at this difficult time.
