Patsy Ann “Pat” McCallister - Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Homes & Crematory

Patsy Ann “Pat” McCallister

May 18, 1944 - April 11, 2026

Patsy Ann “Pat” McCallister, age 81, of Bear, DE, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, April 11, 2026.

Born in Wilmington, DE on May 18, 1944, she was a daughter of the late Albert Franklin and Inez Marie (Rose) Gray. Pat was a graduate of Conrad High School. She enjoyed being a stay at home mom to raise her 3 children. Once her children started school, Pat worked for various professions. Having a passion for children, she later opened her own daycare with her daughter, Sheri, where she loved taking care of every child she had the pleasure of teaching. She eventually became an auditor for other daycare centers in New Castle County. Her love for children was immense.

Pat was fortunate to be able to retire early to do the things she enjoyed most: frequent visits to the beach, long road trips travelling the country with her loving husband, and spending time with her family and friends. Her love for the Lord was abundant. Whether it was life’s trials or joyful celebrations, Pat never missed an opportunity to thank the Lord for her many blessings. She was a deeply compassionate, loving soul and dedicated to her faith as a member of Middletown Baptist Church.  Pat now rests in eternal hands of her loving God.

In addition to her parents, Pat was preceded in death by her daughter, Sheri Fulmer; son-in-law, William Fulmer; and sister, Alberta Dougherty. She is survived by her loving husband of 43 years, Gary “Mac” McCallister; sons, Chuck George (Karen) and Matthew George, Sr.; stepdaughter, Becki Raspe (Dennis); sister, Nancy Munzert; 10 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 10 am until 11 am on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 North DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE, where a funeral service will begin at 11 am. Interment will follow in Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 North DuPont Highway, New Castle, DE.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Pat’s memory to Middletown Baptist Church, 419 Armstrong Corner Road, Middletown, DE 19709 or online by clicking here.

  • My sincere condolences to Pat’s family. I have known Pat since 1962. We became good friends. I’m so sorry I haven’t been in touch due to my own personal issues. She now rests with her Saviour.

  • Mac, I had the great pleasure of meeting Pat several times at your place as well as at our place in The Netherlands. Jet and I cherish fond memories of Pat (and you). We remember her as warm hearted and fun to be with. Her good sense of humour was always good for a laugh and giving colour to the house. Even though we are both colourblind, we still saw her colours.
Find comfort in your family and friends, and keep her in your heart.
    Jet and Leon.

  • Mac — so sorry to hear of Pat’s passing. My thoughts and prayers are with you and the family especially during this time.

  • Dearest Becki, so sorry I had no idea when we texted earlier. So sorry for your family’s loss. May her soul be in heaven and may perpetual light shine upon her.

  • Dear Uncle Mac,
My heart is with you in this time of sorrow. May God grant you strength to bear this loss.
I am praying that our Lord blesses and comforts you and your family during this time of sorrow.
I feel blessed that she kindly reached out to me when my aunt, her cousin, Gail Stewart passed away. Being a caring and loving person she opened a relationship with me and offered her compassion, strength, and her faith in God. May her soul rest in eternal peace. With deepest sympathy, Brandi (Jeuell) McCuen

  • Dear Mac,
What a lovely collection of pictures capturing the memorable times you and Pat shared while travelling to so many wonderful places. Through them, I can clearly see the joy and happiness Pat brought to you, her children, and her grandchildren.
I regret not having had the chance to meet her when she came to pick you up at your office in Wilmington. Even from that brief moment, it was evident how much she cared for you.
I can also sense the depth of her devotion to her daycare children and to her church. It reminds me very much of my own wife, who gave so much of herself to our church and led the children’s Sunday School with great dedication.
Pat is now with the Lord. The affectionate memories of her will remain with you, your large family, and all her friends forever. May you find the strength and comfort to carry on in the days ahead.
    Your dear friend,
    Philippe
