Paul Francis Hendrick, Sr.

March 27, 1945 - January 18, 2021

 Paul Francis Hendrick, Sr., age 76, of Newark, DE, passed away on Monday, January 18, 2021.

Born in Philadelphia, PA on March 27, 1945, he was a son of the late Thomas and Evelyn (Stoner) Hendrick. Paul graduated from Monsignor Bonner High School in Philadelphia, PA, then enlisted in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. After being honorably discharged, he started his 23-year career with Eastern Airlines. Paul then went to work for the State of Delaware, and retired after dedicating over 20 years of service. In his younger years, he was a competitive archer and enjoyed going to the gun range. Paul was a loyal Boston sports fan, and took great pride in his red Ford pickup truck. He was also a faithful friend of Bill W. for 29 years. Most of all, Paul loved spending time with his precious grandchildren, Brian, Kelly and Arianna.

In addition to his parents, Paul was preceded in death by his twin brother, William Hendrick and siblings, Leon Hendrick, Teresa Hatala, Evelyn Clemens, Elizabeth Elliott, Laura Whitehead, and Clark Hendrick. He is survived by his devoted wife of 52 years, Joanne Veronica (Galewski) Hendrick; children, Laura Hendrick (Erik Marciniszyn) and Paul Hendrick, Jr. (Catlin Crowe); brothers and sisters, Thomas Hendrick, Jr., Carol Yannone, and Barbara Falcone; 3 grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 10 am until 11 am on Tuesday, February 9, 2021, at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 121 West Park Place, Newark, DE. Face masks will be required for all in attendance. Services and interment will be held privately.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Paul’s memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

    I was saddened to read of Paul’s passing. Paul was a hard worker and worked even harder during the snowstorms, clearing the roads in Delaware, so the rest of us would be safe.
