Phyllis Jane Santo - Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Homes & Crematory

Phyllis Jane Santo

January 4, 1932 - May 31, 2022

Phyllis Jane Santo, age 90, passed away peacefully, on Tuesday, May 31, 2022.

Born in Wilmington, DE, on January 4, 1932, she was a daughter of the late Samuel Clark and Audrey (Perkins) Clark Gentile. Phyllis attended P.S. DuPont High School and went on to work for DEL MAR Photo in Wilmington.  She met the love of her life, Joe, and they married in 1951, sharing 54 years of marriage. Phyllis went back to work at Sears Fashion Center when her children were older, retiring in 1994.

In her roles as a homemaker, loving wife, mother, and grandmother, she was truly happy.  Phyllis thoroughly enjoyed the simple pleasures of life! She was always the first one packed and ready to go to cheer at her grandchildren’s sporting events and recitals. Always ready for a ride in the car to “anywhere” you wanted to go, Phyllis loved driving by her home, touring the streets of Old New Castle, and Battery Park.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, June Cox, Doris Iorii Dugan, and David Clark. She is survived by her sons, Joseph A. Santo (Mary Ann), and David F. Santo (Robin); sisters, Nancy Wilton, and Kay Gentile Barritt; grandchildren, Ann Marie Henderson (Erik), Jamie Cannatelli (Chris), Joseph (Jen), Stephanie Koterwas (Matt), and Matthew; and great-grandchildren, Arwyn, Annalee, Joseph, Adeline, Camryn, Devyn, Jane, and Abigail.

All services will be held privately.
