Phyllis L. Blythe

August 7, 1943 - July 1, 2025

Phyllis L. Blythe, age 81, of New Castle, DE, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 1, 2025.

Born in Wilmington, DE on August 7, 1943, Phyllis was the daughter of the late Joseph Earl Truelove, Sr. and Sarah Elizabeth (Webber) Truelove. She attended De La Warr High School. Phyllis worked as an operator at St. Joseph Paper Company before taking an administrative position at Meadowood.

Phyllis found joy in life’s simple pleasures. She loved to crochet and could often be found with a hook and yarn in hand, creating gifts for those she loved. She enjoyed visits to Delaware Park to try her luck at the slots and was happiest in her kitchen. Phyllis enjoyed cooking but especially loved baking special treats for her family and friends. Phyllis loved Christmas and took great delight in decorating, baking, and making the holiday magical for those she loved most. She will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.

Phyllis is survived by her devoted husband, William G. Blythe; brother-in-law, Donald Blythe Jr. (Patti); sister-in-law, Barbara DuBois (Bill); and brother-in-law, Roger Blythe.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Tracey, Phyllis’s dedicated CNA, for caring for her with the warmth and kindness of family.

All services will be held privately.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Phyllis’ memory to Holloway Terrace Fire Company, 700 West Avenue, New Castle, DE 19720.
