R. Dennis Diehl
October 23, 1940 - October 28, 2023
R. Dennis Diehl, 83, of Seaford, DE, entered his heavenly home on October 28, 2023, at 8:20 AM. He was surrounded by the warmth of his cherished family. Dennis courageously battled cancer for the second time, demonstrating incredible resilience and strength up until the very end.
He was born on October 23, 1940, in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, to his devoted parents, Russell and Marguerite Diehl. Dennis’s life was deeply intertwined with love and commitment, as he shared 58 beautiful years of marriage with his beloved bride, Carlteen King, a union celebrated at St. Johns Church in Seaford, Delaware, on August 28, 1965.
A proud veteran, he served in the United States Air Force from 1958 to 1961, stationed in Florida during the Cuban Missile Crisis. Following his service, Dennis embarked on a fulfilling career in radio, touching the lives of many listeners in Delaware and Maryland after graduating from the National Broadcasting Academy.
The ocean held a special place in his heart, offering solace and a repository of cherished childhood memories. Dennis’s joys extended to reading, leisurely nature walks, and, most importantly, the company of his family.
A man who held family above all else, he is survived by his devoted wife, Carlteen Diehl and his loving children, James Diehl (Jelai) and Tabitha Nichols (David); grandchildren, Kayleigh Satterfield, Christina Diehl, Liam Nichols, Isabella Diehl, Cullen Nichols, Kaia Nichols, Remi Nichols, and Archer Diehl. Many other friends and family held special places in his heart.
Dennis was preceded in death by his parents, Marguerite and Russell Diehl; his brother, Wallace Diehl; his daughter, Michele Eder; and his granddaughter, Victoria Stephens.
A brief, heartfelt committal service with military honors to celebrate Dennis’s life will be held at 1 pm on Friday, November 3, 2023, in the chapel of Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 26669 Patriots Way, Millsboro, DE.
In lieu of flowers, Dennis’s wishes were for donations to be directed to the TidalHealth Allen Cancer Center, 701 Middleford Road, Seaford, DE 19973 or by clicking here, where he received exceptional care, befitting a man of his grace and dignity.

Teena Ed and I are so sorry for your loss. He was such a nice and friendly man. I remember him always walking in the Community when we first moved here and he continued everyday with a Big wave and smile. We will miss him on Halloween as he would always walk his Grandchildren for Trick or Treat. We love chatting with him. Just remember he will never truly be gone for he will live on in your heart and memories. Sending Love and Prayers to you and your entire family through this difficult time.
