Reba C. McKinney, age 91, of New Castle, DE, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family on Monday, February 19, 2024.

Born in Shouns, TN on March 31, 1932, she was a daughter of the late Hartley and Thelma (Greer) May. Reba worked as the head cashier at Woolworthโ€™s until her retirement.

In her spare time, Reba enjoyed going for walks. She was a meticulous cleaner who loved to keep her house spick and span. Above all, Reba cherished the memories she made with her family and friends.

In addition to her parents, Reba was preceded in death by her husband, James L. McKinney, Sr.; and children, James L. McKinney, Jr. and Delores A. McKinney. She is survived by her children, Deborah Haggerty (William) and Darlene Elliott-Denton; aunt, Ollie Paisey; sister, Ruby Lopatin; 6 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 11 am until 12 pm on Friday, March 1, 2024, at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 North DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE, where a funeral service will begin at 12 pm. Interment will follow in Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 North DuPont Highway, New Castle, DE.

  • When I would visit Aunt Ollie in the summers,I always enjoyed her nightly calls. She would ask what I was making for dinner and I would tell her I’d send her some. She would have some funny story of what happened to the dinner on the way. She had a wonderful imagination.She is missed.
