Rev. Dewayne Pierce - Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Homes & Crematory

Rev. Dewayne Pierce

May 18, 1967 - November 30, 2021

Rev. Dewayne Pierce, age 54, of Middletown, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, November 30, 2021.

Born in Odessa, TX on May 18, 1967, he was a son of the late Jimmy Earl Pierce and Margaret Ann (Thetford) Owings. Dewayne proudly served his country in the United States Army for 3 years. Following his dedicated service, he worked as an outside sales representative for Graybar for 23 years. After his time at Graybar, he became the Senior Associate Pastor of Celebration Community Church in Dillsburg, PA, where he served for 2 years. Most recently, Dewayne was the Head Pastor at Real Life Community Church in Middletown, where he served for a year and a half.

Dewayne never met a stranger. He loved the Lord first, and loved people. Dewayne had a passion for doing the Lord’s work. He loved spending time with his family: taking family vacations to the beach, attending his children’s sporting and musical events, celebrating Christmas, watching movies, attending Hershey Bears games, and going out to eat, shopping, or doing anything else as a family. Dewayne also enjoyed fishing, especially with his boys. He loved the opportunity to take his “girls” (his wife, Dee, and daughter) to see plays and shows. In his spare time, Dewayne also enjoyed reading and playing golf.

In addition to his parents, Dewayne was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Kaydence Aileen Pierce. He is survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Dee Pierce; children, Cameron Pierce (Calli), age 31, Cayden Pierce, age 22, Carissa Pierce, age 19, Cylan Pierce, age 17, and Camdon Pierce, age 14; grandchildren, Paxten and Tensley Pierce; brother, Stephen Pierce (Shanna).

A Celebration of Life will be held at 11 am on Saturday, December 11, 2021 at the Volunteer Hose Company of Middletown in the Memorial Hall, 27 West Green Street, Middletown, DE, with a luncheon to follow from 12:30 pm until 2:30 pm. Following the luncheon, a tour of Real Life Community Church, 938 Middletown Warwick Road, Middletown, DE, will be held in Dewayne’s honor from 2:30 pm until 3:30 pm. Interment will be held privately.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Dewayne’s memory to The Pierce Memorial Fund in care of Real Life Community Church, at the address above, or to the Dewayne Pierce Memorial Fund through Give Send Go, by clicking here.

  • A brother in the Lord, friend, and ministry companion for over 8 yrs (2 yrs as Senior Assoc. Pastor, 6 as lay leader). We shared many victories and incurred a few battle scars together. We believed in each other just when we both needed it! Memories of doing life together bring a smile, make me chuckle, and inspire me to live for and love Christ more passionately! He’s built a Godly legacy in his family and others that will go on and on!

  • I met Dewayne at my job with Graybar.
I always knew when he was in the building, he was a little loud at times and full of energy. I met his family there too, as they would come visit him there. Over the years I have come to admire this beautiful family for their glory to God, their amazing talents and love.
Dewayne will be greatly missed, but I am sure God saw his good works here and needs his warrior for an even greater purpose.
I will pray for the family to stay strong and to continue to be blessed. 🙏🏻

  • Though I only knew Pastor Dewayne for a few years, I knew immediately that he loved God, Dee, and the children. We got together for early breakfast each time he came to visit the in-laws (Harold and Betty Lou Hoffman).
Always being upbeat about the things of God and gracious in his demeanor, I always left our “pastor talks” encouraged and excited about serving God.
    Will miss you Dewayne!
Praying for you Dee, the family, all the loved ones, and church family.

  • I looked forward to our Sunday School lessons in the tent in the basement of Celebration Community Church… it was there that I met my first friends of CCC and made meaningful connections to God and the Bible. The Pierce family is a beautiful one. I am inspired for their fierce love of God and desire to grow and inspire others to do the same. It is heartbreaking for us that he was taken so soon… he was bold, warm, funny, honest, so caring and personal. He came to the hospital to pray with my Grandmother when we didn’t know if she was going to make it, and picked up on her reluctancy and masterfully connected with her and gained her trust and smile to connect her with prayer. So many of your lessons and stories shall guide me for the rest of my life. Your mark has been made. I m Know you are adding to heaven’s shine. Love you, Thank you, and continued prayers to the Pierce family 💗.
