Richard Francis Dettro, age 81, of Newark, DE, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, March 2, 2024.
Born in Wilmington, DE on January 15, 1943, he was a son of the late Philip and Gloria (Casalena) Dettro. Richard was a graduate of Salesianum High School and later became a Certified Dental Technician. He was the proud founder and owner of Wilmington and Newark Dental Lab.
A friend to the community, Richard enjoyed helping others as a member of the Knights of Columbus. In his spare time, he could often be found fishing or wood working. Richard loved to cheer on his beloved Philadelphia teams, the Eagles, Phillies, 76ers, and Flyers.
Richard is survived by his loving wife, Barbara A. (Lesco) Dettro; children, Timothy Michael Dettro (Catherine), Dina (Dettro) Bovankovich (Peter), and Denise Dettro (Anthony Cuoco); and grandchildren, Michael Philip Dettro, Starlette Ava Dettro, Molly Sullivan, Catherine Sullivan, Philip Bovankovich, Dominic Bovankovich, Jackson Guze, and Luke Guze.
All services will be held privately.
