Richard J. Harbaugh

Richard J. Harbaugh, age 55, of Newark, DE, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 25, 2026.
Born in Wilmington, DE, on November 18, 1970, he was the son of Robert L. Harbaugh and the late Janet (Stata) Harbaugh. A graduate of Newark High School, Richard made his career as an audiovisual specialist and a successful business owner.
Rich was an avid sports fan, with a special love for hockey. He played in many leagues throughout the years, finding joy in the game, the competition, and the friendships he made along the way. He particularly cheered for the Philadelphia Flyers and Eagles (Go Birds!). Rich was also a fan of fast and muscle cars and enjoyed attending car shows, especially with his dad, where they could admire the cars and share in their mutual enthusiasm. He also had a deep appreciation for good food and enjoyed cooking, especially when he could share a meal with family and friends. These passions brought him many happy moments and lasting memories throughout his life.
Rich never met a stranger. He had a heart of gold, a wonderful sense of humor, and a way of making everyone around him feel welcome. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Richard is survived by his wife, Rosie (Pichardo) Harbaugh; children, Germaine Harbaugh (Germaine Ortiz) and Brandon Harbaugh (Rosie); father, Robert Harbaugh; brother, Randy Harbaugh (Robin); sister, Robin Gray (David); as well as 5 nieces/nephew and 3 grandnieces/nephew.
A visitation for family and friends will be held from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. on Saturday, October 10, 2026, at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 121 West Park Place, Newark, DE, where a memorial service will begin at 11 a.m. Inurnment will be held privately.
