Richard “Rick” C. Stoops
February 10, 1955 - March 27, 2018
Richard Rick C. Stoops, age 63, of Newark, DE, passed away on Tuesday, March 27, 2018, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Wilmington, DE on February 10, 1955, he was a son of the late Coleman Stoops and Virginia (Abrams) Zanleoni. Rick spent his career as a talented auto mechanic and proudly owned R & S Automotive.
Rick loved to be outside, whether riding his Harley Davidson or boating. He was an avid sports fan, especially cheering on his beloved Dallas Cowboys and Baltimore Orioles. Rick cherished the times socializing and seeing local friends. Above all he will be remembered as a loving father, companion, grandfather, brother and dear friend to many.
In addition to his parents, Rick was preceded in death by his brother, Johnny Stoops. He is survived by his daughter, Annmarie Reynolds (Brian) of Milford; companion of 14 years, Brenda Frederick of Newark; brothers, Coleman Stoops (Cathy) and Bruce Stoops (Oakley); sisters, Karen McCall (Ralph), Maureen Brown (Rod) and Denise Woosley (Scott); and granddaughter, Brianna Reynolds.
A visitation for family and friends will be held from 10 am until 11 am on Wednesday, April 4, 2018 in Gracelawn Memorial Park Chapel, 2220 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE, where a funeral service will begin at 11 am. Interment will immediately follow.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Rick’s name to Compassionate Care Hospice, 701 N Clayton St. Wilmington, DE 19805.
