Dick attended Plainville, CT schools and graduated from the University of Connecticut School of Pharmacy in 1959. In 1961, Dick drove home within 44 hours from Texas to marry the love of his life, Liz in Southington CT, which was one of the best moves he ever made. After retiring from the service, Dick and Liz also enjoyed traveling Europe, visiting Sweden, Poland, Czechoslovakia, Spain, Portugal and the Netherlands. They also toured China and throughout the U.S. and Canada.
In addition to his parents, Dick was preceded in death by his sister, Nancy A. Smith. He is survived by his best friend and loving wife of 62 years, Elizabeth M. “Liz” (Adams) Johnson; children, Scott R. Johnson of NYC, NY and Kristen L. Johnson of Newark, DE; and his longtime fur companion, Cali.
