Robert A. “Bobby” Markey, age 81, of Lewes, DE, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, May 2, 2024.

Born in Wilmington, DE on November 30, 1942, he was the son of the late Alexander and Margaret (Wilson) Markey. Bobby made his career as a control room operator at Delmarva Power in Delaware City for 35 years until his retirement.

In his spare time, Bobby could always be found by the water fishing, it was his biggest passion. He also loved watching cowboy movies.

In addition to his parents, Bobby was preceded in death by his daughter, Kathleen Harris (Mike). He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Violet Anne (Morrison) Markey; children, Dennis Markey and David Markey (Donna); grandchildren, Colleen Harris, Jamar Ross, Kassandra Harris-Merced, Frank Merced, A.J. Markey, and Patrick Markey; and great-grandchildren, Cameron Merced, Mia Merced, and J.R. Ross.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 11 am until 12 pm on Wednesday, May 8, 2024, at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 North DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE, where a funeral service will begin at 12 pm. Interment will follow in Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 North DuPont Highway, New Castle, DE.

  • So sorry for your loss! Bobby was a great man! He and his brother jimmy were so good to my boys! Now he and Jimmy can fish together up there along with Mike and Tony with Kathleen and Janie supervising !!!
