Robert Franklin “Bobby” Hamby

Robert Franklin “Bobby” Hamby, age 65, of Middletown, DE, passed away on Sunday, October 16, 2022.

Born in Wilmington, DE on May 17, 1957, he was a son of the late Willard E. and Billie B. (Brummitt) Hamby. Bobby graduated from Middletown High School in 1976. Following graduation, he went on to work at Phillips Home Builders. He then made his career as a truck driver at Tyson F. Sartins for 35 dedicated years.           

Bobby was an avid motorcyclist. He enjoyed working in his garage and cutting grass. Bobby was a wonderful uncle who loved spending time with his nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Bobby was preceded in death by his brother, Roger Hamby. He is survived by his wife of 3 years, Janice H. Biddle; siblings, Diane Lockerman (Willard), Jerry Hamby, and Mark Hamby; son that he never had, Landon Carroll; four-legged companion, Megee; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 10 am until 11 am on Saturday, October 22, 2022 at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 275 East Main Street, Middletown, DE, where are funeral service will begin at 11 am. Interment will follow in Townsend Cemetery, Caldwell Corner Road, Townsend, DE.

  • I only just found this out now, and I am devastated. Bobby was a really great guy a really nice man. I had some apologies that I will never get to give him. But he does seem to look happy in his latest pictures, and I hope there was a really good woman caring for him because he absolutely deserved it. if that is the case, I owe my thanks for her care of him and I express my deepest sympathies to all the family.
