Robert G. “Bob” DeGregory, Sr.
November 10, 1938 - April 20, 2025
Robert G. “Bob” DeGregory, Sr., age 86, of Newark, DE, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 20, 2025, surrounded by his sons.
Born in Penns Grove, NJ on November 10, 1938, he was a son of the late Vincenzio DiGregorio and Catherine (Eyesaldt) Durbano. Bob worked as a painter apprentice and later made his career as an operator at DuPont Chambers Works for 25 years until his retirement.
Bob was a loyal parishioner at St. John the Beloved, finding joy and comfort in his Catholic faith. He loved spending time in his garden or in his kitchen, often preparing homemade pasta for his family. Some of his favorite moments were spent gathered around the table, sharing meals and conversation with those he loved most. In his spare time, he loved taking his yellow Mustang for memorable drives through Northern Delaware, where he used to paint homes. During the holiday season, Bob took great pride in decorating his home with Christmas lights, creating a festive display for the neighborhood to enjoy.
In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his loving wife of 47 years, Janet DeGregory; son, David R. DeGregory; and brother, Anthony DeGregory. He is survived by his children, Robert J. Jr. (Kathleen), Joseph V. (Kristin), and Michael A. (Colleen); grandchildren, Gianna, Tyler, Devon, and Joey Jr.; and brother, James DeGregory.
A visitation for family and friends will be held from 10:30 am until 11:30 am on Thursday, April 24, 2025, at St. John the Beloved Parish, 907 Milltown Road, Wilmington, DE 19808, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11:30 am. Interment will be held privately in All Saints Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Bob’s memory to St. John the Beloved Parish, at the address listed above or online by clicking here; or to Beebe Medical Foundation, 902 Savannah Road, Lewes DE 19958 or online by clicking here.
