Robert H. Wolfe
“Wolfie”

Mr. Robert Herman Wolfe, age 84, of Newark, DE, passed away on Thursday, March 1, 2012, at his home.
Born in Oswego, NY, on February 27, 1928, Mr. Wolfe was the son of the late Clyde Wolfe and Ethel Buske Wolfe. As a young man, he proudly served his country as a cook in the US Army (the Army’s tasty recipe for barbeque beef was his signature dish and is a Wolfe family favorite to this day!). In civilian life, he was a highly skilled die maker and made his career with Westvaco, where he retired in 1992 after 30 years of service.
Mr. Wolfe enjoyed many happy pastimes throughout his life, including fishing and meticulously tending the garden and yard around his home each year. An especially talented woodworker, he delighted in creating lovely, hand-crafted presents for family and friends. He took his family on beach vacations each summer in earlier years, and, following his retirement, traveled all over the country with his wife, Carmela. Mr. Wolfe was a great fan of country music and often fondly remembered attending concerts at Sunset Park in the early 1960s.
A devout Catholic, he was a longtime member of Holy Family parish.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years, Carmela Alice Barbasso Wolfe; devoted children, Robert Wolfe (Patricia), Rosemary Mullins (Roger), Joseph Wolfe (Michele), and David Wolfe (Sheri); siblings, Harold Wolfe and Helen White; brother-in-law, Sam Barbasso, to whom he was very close; nine grandchildren; two great grandchildren and one more expected soon.
Visitation will be held from 5 pm to 7 pm on Tuesday, March 6th, at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 121 W. Park Place, Newark, DE. A second visitation will begin at 10:30 am on Wednesday, March 7th, at Holy Family R.C. Church, E. Chestnut Hill and Gender Roads, Newark, DE, followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 am. Committal will be in All Saints Cemetery, 6001 Kirkwood Highway, Wilmington, DE.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Mr. Wolfe may be made to Holy Family R.C. Church, 15 Gender Road, Newark, DE 19713; or to Delaware Hospice, 3515 Silverside Road, Wilmington, DE 19810.
