Robert J. Richmond

Robert J. Richmond, age 87, of New Castle, DE, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family on Monday, May 6, 2024.
Born in Waterberry, CT on January 5, 1937, he was the son of the late George and Mary (Pryor) Richmond. Robert proudly served in the United States Army. He made his career as a teacher, devoting 45 years to various schools and multiple grade levels. Robert taught management and accounting at Goldey-Beacom College prior to his retirement.
Robert was passionate about giving back to his community and enjoyed being a member of the Knights of Columbus. He was also an active member of the Catholic faith, serving as an eucharistic minister. In his spare time, Robert often looked forward to playing golf, travelling, and spending time with his family.
In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by his wife, Anna R. (Zambiella) Richmond; sister, Joan DeBisschop; and brother-in-law, Phillip DeBisschop. He is survived by his daughters, Beth Cummings and husband Bill of New Castle, and Traci Kocher and husband Dennis of Clayton; and grandchildren, Tori, Kyle, Carlee, Lexi, Hannah, Jason, Peirce, and Sara. He will be greatly missed by his four-legged companion, Terra.
A visitation for family and friends will be held from 11 am until 12 pm on Wednesday, May 15, 2024, at Holy Family R.C. Church, 15 Gender Road, Newark, DE, where a funeral Mass will begin at 12 pm. Inurnment will be held privately.

To the family of one of the best teachers ever!
I was sitting with my two adult children after Sunday dinner; both of whom are Newark High Alumni along with their Dad, celebrating the class of 74’s /50th year since commencement.
They wanted to know who my favorite teachers were, of course Mr. Robert (Bob) Richmond was among the top three or four. He was a powerful positive influence as my Distributive Ed. (DECA) teacher, Because of Mr. Richmond and a couple others including. George Weber; my four years at NHS were the most memorable.
