Robert Joshua Baker Jr.

Robert Joshua Baker Jr., a beloved husband, father and grandfather, whose kindness touched the lives of everyone that he met, passed away surrounded by his loved ones on August 10, 2025 in Christiana, Delaware. Robert was born on September 1, 1954 in Wilmington, Delaware to the late Robert and Stella Baker.
Robert grew up in New Castle, Delaware and graduated from William Penn High School in 1973. He later attended Delaware Technical Community College and received an Associate’s degree in Environmental Engineering. Robert had a long-lasting career as a Facilities Administrator at AIG in Wilmington, Delaware for over 30 years.
Robert married his loving wife, Deborah Baker, on January 17th 1982. Robert and Deborah enjoyed 41 years of marriage. Robert was a wonderful father to his two children, Katelyn and Jason. Robert was wholeheartedly devoted to his family and was an excellent provider. He would spend countless hours supporting his children in all of their sport endeavors. Whether it was spending hours watching his daughter swim, or watching his son on the wrestling mat, he was always there. As a father, he provided guidance, encouragement and unconditional love. Robert was also a warm and loving grandfather, affectionately known as “Bpop”, to his two grandchildren Kallie and Kolson.
Robert showcased his true giving spirit by volunteering his time to various associations such as the Riptide Aquatics Swim Team, the Little League, the Smyrna Wrestling Program, and the Smyrna Athletic Boosters. Everyone that came in contact with Robert during his life could attest to his giving and kind nature.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Stella Baker; sister Theresa Clark; and brother-in-law Anthony Lewis. Robert is survived by his wife, Deborah Baker; children Katelyn Reshetar (David) and Jason Baker; grandchildren Kallie and Kolson Reshetar; sister Karen Lewis; and brother Stephen Baker (Susan). Robert leaves behind numerous nephews and nieces that truly looked up to him.
Robert’s legacy is not only the life he lived, but in the lives he touched. His kindness, loyalty, and integrity will continue to inspire those fortunate enough to have known him. He will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.
Funeral services and burial will be held privately. In lieu of flowers, a donation to a charity of your choice may be made in Robert’s name.

I am very saddened by this news. I loved Bob, Deb Katie Jason the entire family I’m so sorry. My condolences to you guys. Bob was a great man with a great personality that would do anything for anyone I loved Bob. RIP BIG BOB LOVE YOU BUD!!
