Robert L. “Bobby” McGowan II

Robert L. “Bobby” McGowan II, age 57, of Newark, DE, passed away on Friday, January 27, 2023.

Born in Wilmington, DE on February 2, 1965, he was a son of the late Robert L. and B. Lynne (Selby) McGowan. Bobby was a graduate of William Penn High School in 1983. In the early years of his career, he worked at Star Enterprise Oil Refinery and later became his own boss starting a career in construction.

Bobby was a true outdoorsman, spending countless hours off shore fishing and waterfowl hunting. Putting his skills to the test, he often competed in duck calling competitions, winning many championships. In his younger years, Bobby enjoyed playing soccer and baseball. He loved cheering on his beloved Philadelphia teams, the Eagles and the Flyers, and playing cornhole.

Bobby was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Lynne McGowan. He is survived by his brother, Keith A. McGowan (Janna) of Dover; and niece and nephew, Kate and Colin McGowan, both of Dover.

All services will be held privately.

  • I was so sad to hear about Bob’s passing. Bob was a good guy, a true friend, caring and loving! I’m so sad that he’s no longer with us. I met him at my son’s house. We were family. He used to come hang out with us whenever there was a gathering at my son’s house. Jose and Bob were good friends. He always told me how much he loves him and how proud he was of him. Rest In Peace dear Bob. You will forever live in our hearts ♥️
