Roland Randolph Lord

Roland Randolph Lord, age 91, of Newark, DE, passed away on Wednesday, December 20, 2023.
Born in Philadelphia, PA on August 21, 1932, he was the son of the late Randolph and Violet Lord who resided in West Philadelphia, PA. Roland was born and raised in Philadelphia, PA and was a product of the Philadelphia Public School System. He graduated from Shoemaker Junior High and Overbrook Senior High School. In his early life, Roland was active in many sports, including basketball and bowling.
After graduating from high school in 1950, Roland enlisted in the US Air Force, where he served between October 1952 and April 1955. While in the Air Force, Roland was based in the Mid-West and in Europe.
After his honorable discharge from the Air Force, Roland pursued a career in civil engineering drafting. Roland was employed by several civil engineering consulting firms located in downtown Philadelphia, including Steinman, and Greeley & Hansen, where he worked on several highway construction projects in and around the Philadelphia area. Roland retired in the early 1990’s.
Roland was married to Jacquelyn in 1966, where they had two children, Pamela and Anthony. Roland was a dedicated family man to his immediate family that also included his grandson, Tracy, stepdaughter, Sylvia Godwin (Oswald), and stepson, Earl Godwin (Fredia).
In the early 2000’s, Roland and his wife moved to Newark, DE, where he enjoyed retirement.
In addition to his parents, Roland was preceded in death by his daughter, Pamela (2006); and grandson, Tracy (2004). He is survived by his loving wife, Jacquelyn; son, Anthony; stepdaughter, Sylvia (Oswald); and stepson, Earl (Fredia).
All services will be held privately.
