Ronald B. Case, age 89, of Newark, DE, passed away on Friday, August 16, 2024.

Born in West Chester, PA on July 21, 1935, he was the son of the late John Burton and Marguerite (Hall) Case. He was raised by his late aunt and uncle Jacob and Elva “Pat” Hatfield in Greenwood, DE. Ronald proudly served in the Army National Guard. He made his career as a lab technician for the DuPont Experimental Station until his retirement on December 31, 1997.

Ronald had a passion for music and taught himself to play the piano, even giving lessons for many years. He also played the trombone and the organ. Ronald served as a former youth choir director for many years at Kingswood United Methodist Church. He was a dedicated member of Ebenezer United Methodist Church. A friend to the community, Ronald was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels as well as Hope Dining Room. In his spare time, he enjoyed woodworking, creating beautiful pieces for his family and friends.

In addition to his parents, Ronald was preceded in death by his wife, Peggy A. (Laughery) Case; and stepsister, Charlotte Davis. He is survived by his children, Karen C. Holman (Matthew) of Sarasota, FL and Blair B. Case of Newark; and his cousin who he considered a sister to him, Ellen Patterson.

A graveside service will begin at 11 am on Friday, August 23, 2024, in Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 North DuPont Highway, New Castle, DE.

  • Uncle Ronnie was a kind, loving, caring Uncle and always gave the Blessing at all Family Reunions❤️. He always had a welcoming smile and thoughtful words to say.   • Karen and Blair, our most sincere condolences. Ron was a backbone in the extended Laughery family. He served several roles within the family reunions and was a kind soul. We looked to him for guidance and leadership in the family. He will be missed.
