Ronald P. “Ron” Mayer, age 86, of Newark, DE, passed away on Sunday, November 5, 2023.

Born in Newark, DE, on February 6, 1937, he was the son of the late Arthur P. and Constance (Corrace) Mayer, Sr. Ron proudly served in the United States Navy Reserves for 8 years. He was the owner and operator of Mayer, Inc., a building materials company, for the past 48 years.

Ron loved to spend his free time outdoors, he could often be found fishing or taking trips to Bethany Beach with his family. He was a member of the Sunset Lake Fishing Club as well as the Junior Chamber of Commerce.

Ron is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Joan M. (Wolhar) Mayer; children, Lisa Mayer-Capiro, Adam C. Mayer (Amy), and Vincent P. Mayer; half-sister, Pauline Brassfield (James); 6 grandchildren; and 2 great-grandchildren.

A Funeral Mass will be offered at 11 am on Tuesday, November 14, 2023, at Holy Angels R.C. Church, 82 Possum Park Road, Newark, DE 19711. Interment will be held privately.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Ron’s memory to Holy Angels R. C. Church, at the address listed above.
